Cyber Security Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join our team at RES, the world's largest independent renewable energy company. As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our information systems against cyber threats and ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide cybersecurity analysis and support throughout the organization, ensuring security and governance requirements are met, and be proactive in the identification and remediation of security incidents.
  • Lead the technical root cause analysis of security incidents to ensure prompt action is taken to prevent incident reoccurrence and strengthen relevant cybersecurity controls.
  • Manage the cybersecurity team's operational queue of requests and incidents as well as queries into the team mailbox in line with agreed service levels.
  • Undertake operational support and maintenance of the company's cybersecurity technologies, including those related to email, web, and endpoint security, and Microsoft 365/Azure services.
  • Alongside cybersecurity partners and other operational teams, monitor cyber alerts and network traffic for unusual activities and respond to security events, breaches, or intrusions using analytics and forensic tools to investigate the source of breaches and block potential threats.
  • Routinely produce relevant and accurate cybersecurity metrics for both technical and business stakeholders on the performance and effectiveness of the company's cybersecurity arrangements.
  • Manage all cybersecurity aspects of the on-premise and Azure environments utilized by our Spanish OM businesses and their OM branch offices across ~15 countries.
  • Provide cybersecurity direction to the Spanish OM business and RES integration teams.
  • Represent Spanish OM businesses as the Cyber Security lead at appropriate forums, including TDA, internal projects, and programs.
  • Gather threat intelligence from identified external and internal sources and relate to vulnerabilities in systems and processes to identify relevant countermeasures.
  • Undertake cybersecurity vulnerability assessments and remediation of systems and infrastructure, ensuring effective patch management and ongoing cyber resilience.
  • Oversee cybersecurity penetration testing of systems and infrastructure by external specialists to ensure the effective management and remediation of any resulting improvement actions.
  • Be responsible for delivering cybersecurity services and solutions across Networks, Systems, Applications, Voice, Mobile, Wi-Fi platforms, and Cloud services to address identified vulnerabilities and provide advice on system hardening and/or mitigation measures to address cyber risks.
  • As part of supporting business and IT integration of the Spanish OM businesses, undertake knowledge transfer of team members, IT colleagues, and business colleagues.
  • Have the ability to deputize for the Cyber Security Operations Manager as and when needed.
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced security analysis, including the cyber kill chain, malware analysis, memory and file system analysis, and attack vectors.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity tools and practices used within Microsoft Azure/M365.
  • Knowledge of technical security systems, security architecture, security technology, and associated penetration testing and Security Event Management methodologies.
  • Appreciation of the potential impact of security events and the ability to prioritize them.
  • Knowledge of Data Protection and its role within a business.
