About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Technical Director to join our team at Skydance. As a key member of our development and support team, you will play a crucial role in building innovative tools that enable our production teams to efficiently create high-quality animated films.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaboration and Support: Work closely with artists and production management to identify and implement solutions that enhance productivity and quality.
  2. Tool Development and Maintenance: Partner with engineers and artists to design, develop, and refine tools and processes that meet the needs of our production teams.
  3. Technical Support: Provide first-line support to artists and production teams, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  4. Project Management: Report to the TD Supervisor on the status of technical development projects, tool performance, and production operations.
  5. Continuous Improvement: Analyze production workflows and user experiences to identify areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance efficiency and quality.
  6. Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with the latest artistic methodologies and technology trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our technical environment.
  7. Team Leadership: Provide guidance, support, and instruction to team members to help them grow professionally and artistically.
  8. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the team, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure that technical goals and objectives are aligned with business needs.
Requirements
  1. Experience: 6 years in VFX or animation industries, with a minimum of 1 year in animation industry.
  2. Education: BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  3. Technical Skills: Deep understanding of 3D animated film production pipelines and workflows, expertise in Python, experience building tools for Maya, Houdini, and Nuke, and proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems.
  4. Soft Skills: Strong project management skills, excellent communication skills, and ability to document digital processes and technical solutions.
  5. Language: Advanced English level, with Spanish oral and written skills desirable.
