IBM Server Build Technician Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Server Build Technician to join our team at IBM Computing. As a Server Build Technician, you will be responsible for constructing, implementing, and managing IT infrastructure solutions in our data centers.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and build high-quality technical solutions for clients in response to their business requirements.
  2. Integrate hardware, software, and network solutions in Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, and legacy IT infrastructure environments.
  3. Collaborate with IBM teams, including clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other partners.
  4. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues via trouble tickets.
  5. Monitor and manage datacenter infrastructure, including server hardware and network equipment.
  6. Assist with automated provisioning systems for new server orders.
  7. Escalate issues with customer servers as necessary.

Requirements

  1. 1-2 years of experience working in a 24/7 data center environment, preferably with IBM Cloud.
  2. Experience in Operating System Installation (Windows Server, Linux, Unix, VMWare, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of PC hardware concepts and component installation.
  4. Understanding of RAID technologies.
  5. Able to work in shift rotations, including days, evenings, overnight, and/or weekends and holidays.
  6. Fluency in English.
