Medieval History Researcher Position in Spain

This is a postdoctoral researcher position at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, focused on the study of feudal colonization in conquest areas of al-Andalus. The successful candidate will join a research team working on the HE-ERC Synergy project MEDGREENREV, which aims to re-think the Green revolution in the Medieval Western Mediterranean (6th-16th centuries).
Job DescriptionThe primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Conducting research in written documentation and archives related to the study of medieval history.
- Fieldwork for the identification of cultivation spaces, creation of panimetries of cultivation spaces, selection of plots for surveying.
- Writing reports and scientific publications based on research findings.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a PhD in Medieval History, with expertise in the study of feudal colonization in conquest areas of al-Andalus. Fluency in English and one of the following languages (Catalan or Spanish) is also required. Previous experience in research focused on medieval documentation and feudal colonization is an asset.
Compensation and BenefitsThe successful candidate will receive a 34,200€ annual salary, plus 30 days of holidays per year. This is a temporary, full-time position lasting 2 years.
Selection ProcessThe selection process consists of two phases: a curricular evaluation and an interview. Candidates who obtain over 70 points in the curricular phase will be invited for an interview.
