Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Estimating Engineer based in Barcelona. In this role, you will work under the guidance of the lead estimator, contributing to the preparation of capital expenditure cost estimates (ranging from class 2 to class 5) as an Engineering Service Provider for onshore projects in process industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in compiling anticipated project execution costs, including process equipment, bulk materials, construction works, construction supervision, temporary site facilities, and engineering services, based on data gathered during the engineering phase.
- Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary data for bill of quantities (material take-off) and to finalize costs (vendor or construction contractor offers).
- Participate in the timely issuance of the Cost Estimate Report.
- Clarify the main hypotheses and assumptions involved.
- Enhance client understanding and confidence in the Cost Estimate.
- Ensure consistency with the expected accuracy.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Power-Bi).
- Professional proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Ability to read and comprehend French (some internal documents may be in French).
- Capability to interpret technical documents and project plans.
- Basic understanding of AACE recommended practices related to Cost Estimating.
- Methodical and analytical approach to tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project execution.
- Fluency in French is advantageous for communication with other operational centers.
- Previous experience in an engineering discipline or in procurement/subcontracting.
