About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Swedish Language Specialist to join our team at Amazon Spain Services, S.L.U. as a Translation Services Specialist. This is a unique opportunity to work with a global leader in e-commerce and technology, leveraging your expertise in language and translation to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality checks on linguistic work from freelance translators, peers, and external vendors to ensure adherence to customer and company quality standards.
  • Provide feedback and linguistic coaching to peers, freelance translators, and external vendors, and engage in quality improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Review and improve machine-translation engines' quality by assessing output and providing linguistic feedback.
  • Monitor external vendor quality progress, investigate quality variations, and develop and implement measures to drive quality improvement in collaboration with other internal teams.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of existing language assets, including Style Guides, Term Bases, and Translation Memories.
  • Occasionally provide manual translation, such as during the launch of a new language combination.
  • Occasionally post-edit machine-translated product detail pages in an efficient way to increase product availability for customers in their preferred language.
  • Support our leadership, business, and tech teams by taking an active part in training, project/program management, and other initiatives as needed.
Requirements
  • Native-level Swedish language proficiency (or minimum C2).
  • Outstanding localization skills from English and German (both minimum C1) into Swedish.
  • Fully fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Translation, Communications, Linguistics, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Strong analytical, writing, and editorial skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A great deal of personal initiative, decisiveness, and independence.
  • Strong communication and exceptional collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility, proven ability to prioritize and work towards deadlines.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in proofreading or post-editing of machine-translated content.
  • Experience with MT, LLM, and Annotations.
  • Strong working knowledge of CAT tools.
  • Mark-up language skills, experience working with UI strings and e-learning content.
  • Project management and coordination experience.
  • Ability to make logical decisions while performing tasks even when provided information is ambiguous.
  • Previous experience working as part of a global team and different time zones.
