We are seeking a highly skilled High Performance Computing (HPC) expert to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC). As an HPC engineer, you will be responsible for profiling and implementing computational optimizations for Earth Sciences applications running on top European HPC platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Profiling and optimizing Earth Sciences applications for high-performance computing environments
- Developing common tools for the department's R&D tasks
- Collaborating with the Climate Variability and Change group and external software vendors
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related discipline
- Master's degree valued
- Excellent computing skills in high-level computer languages (Fortran/C/C++) and experience with Unix/Linux environments and scripting languages (Bash/Python)
- Programming skills to manage big projects and experience with version control systems (git/SVN)
- Knowledge of HPC performance and profiling tools (Intel Vtune) and experience with running scientific codes on large HPC systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proactive attitude
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience: €60000 - €80000 per year
- A full-time contract with flexible working hours and extensive training plan
- Restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and support for relocation procedures
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December
