Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced reporter to cover the Spanish government, central bank, and economy for Bloomberg News. The successful candidate will be well-connected and work independently and as part of our European network to write news stories and features. Key responsibilities include breaking news on decision-making inside Moncloa and the broader government, as well as on the new Bank of Spain governor, and chronicling the performance of an economy that has been consistently outperforming others in Europe. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of the Spanish government, central bank, and economy, and a willingness to go deeper. They will also have a track record of breaking news and meeting tight deadlines, as well as an aptitude for interpreting economic data. Additional languages are welcome, but fluent English and Spanish are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Break news and write in-depth stories that connect Spanish developments to European trends.
  • Cultivate and maintain a wide network of sources across Spanish politics, central banking, and economics.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the newsroom.
  • Produce high-quality content across all of Bloomberg's platforms.

Requirements
  • Fluent English and Spanish.
  • A strong grasp of the Spanish government, central bank, and economy.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in political, economic, or financial journalism.
  • A track record of breaking news and meeting tight deadlines.
  • An aptitude for interpreting economic data.
