Job Summary

The Financial Business Leader will champion, develop, and implement property-wide strategies to deliver products and services that meet or exceed the needs and expectations of the brand's target customer and property employees. This role will provide financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives while maximizing return on investment.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major, with 2 years of experience in finance and accounting or a related professional area. Alternatively, a Master's degree in Finance and Accounting or a related major with no work experience is also acceptable.

The candidate will be required to have English and Spanish language proficiency, as well as experience with MI SOPs, ISRA, and System. Knowledge of Spanish GAAP is a plus.

Core Work Activities

Engaging in Strategic Planning and Decision Making

The Financial Business Leader will analyze financial data and market trends, forecast sales against expenses, and create annual budget plans. They will also develop means to improve profit, identify underlying principles, and think creatively to develop and execute new business plans.

Leading Accounting Teams

The role will utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others, advocate sound financial/business decision making, and demonstrate honesty/integrity. The Financial Business Leader will also communicate the strategic goals, focus, and owner priorities to subordinates in a clear and precise manner.

Developing and Maintaining Finance and Accounting Goals

The Financial Business Leader will support property strategy from a finance and accounting perspective, submit reports in a timely manner, and ensure profits and losses are documented accurately. They will also achieve and exceed goals, including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, and ensure appropriate corrections are made to audit results if necessary.

Managing Projects and Policies

The Financial Business Leader will monitor all taxes that apply, ensure taxes are current, collected, and/or accrued, and generate accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc. They will also ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures (SOPs and LSOPs), oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes, and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Anticipating and Delivering on the Needs of Key Stakeholders

The Financial Business Leader will understand and meet the needs of key stakeholders (owners, corporate, guests, etc.), understand the owners' perspective and ROI expectations, and anticipate and address owner needs and involve ownership in key decisions. They will also leverage strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team, the property's strategies, and lead their own team.

Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities

The Financial Business Leader will ensure team members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations, ensure property policies are administered fairly and consistently, and ensure new hires participate in the department's orientation program. They will also create appropriate development plans that develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations, and abilities.
