Job Summary
As a dynamic and global community within the British Council, we are seeking a skilled English Language Instructor to join our team. Our teaching centers and online courses build cultural links between the UK and 38 countries around the world, supporting the cultural relations programs in arts and sciences delivered by the British Council.

Role Purpose
To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English across a range of young learner and adult programmes, supporting the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission.

Main Accountabilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles and ensuring lesson materials are tailored appropriately to the needs of particular groups and individuals.
- Monitor and assess progress, providing regular feedback – both written and face to face – to help manage students' performance throughout the course, actively promoting learner autonomy using the setting and correction of homework for that purpose.
- Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards, ensuring safeguarding and guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas: Child protection, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Health and safety.

Additional Information
- Contract Type: Indefinite
- Contract Hours: 15 Hours a week
- Right to Work: Applicants must be EU nationals or have the right to work in Spain
- Working Schedule: Typical teaching slots are weekday lunchtime, afternoon and evening classes, and Saturday morning and afternoon classes, with days off including Sunday and another day of the week off, e.g. Friday. Some adult classes involve early morning starts, and travel may be required for young learner teaching in schools.
- Teachers may be expected to work in more than one British Council center and location, e.g. British Council Centre and a partner institution.

Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree
- Cambridge CELTA and/or Trinity cert TESOL
- Desirable qualifications include a recognised diploma in EFL, such as Cambridge DELTA and/or Trinity Diploma TESOL, and additional specialist qualifications such as PGCE and/or B.ED in Primary, TYLEC, and Nile Teaching English in Pre-Primary education.
