Our Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled Middleware architect to drive the Microservices enablement of our applications as part of our new API Centre for Enablement. As a Middleware Expert, you will have strong integration experience with demonstrable hands-on experience in recent integration roles including .NET and Azure technology Stack. You will be fluent in the underlying Azure technologies and DevOps Platform.

Your Role
As a Cloud Architect, your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Leading the development of Microservices enablement, which will cover delivery and Platform management activities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Analyzing, designing, building, and documenting APIs with a focus on reuse and ease of adoption.
  • Managing production support issues within a DevOps team.
  • Helping to evolve the Microservices Management Platform to better support the delivery of APIs efficiently.
  • Working with customers as required.
  • Providing design review services to support less experienced developers in building their integrations.
  • Completing agreed work within established estimates and communicating status and issues promptly.
  • Working closely with Global Digital Platforms, DDC & Business Units.
  • Appreciating end-user and consumer perspective; illustrating how business requirements can be met through the use of Microservices.
  • Communicating implications of technical concepts to non-technical audiences coherently.
  • Working in agile teams and being comfortable working within a corporate environment.

Your Skills and Experience
As a Cloud Architect, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
  • 5+ years building Microservices on the Azure Platform.
  • Practical requirement analysis, solution architecture, and design.
  • Microservices architecture experience.
  • 4+ years as both a hands-on architect/technical lead across a variety of data domains.
  • Practical data modelling experience for system/integration interfaces, or experience enabling similar API/SOA governance function.
  • API specification using RAML 1.X and/or OAS 3.X.
  • Implemented API security standards (OAuth, OpenID).
  • Additional SOA web service, API, and microservices delivery experience in Java, .NET, Node.Js or MuleSoft beneficial.
  • Familiar with Domain Driven Design (DDD).
  • Deep knowledge of API/Microservices design standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of security standards (OAuth, OpenID, SAML/JWT).
  • Experience of working in the insurance industry would be an advantage.
