Job Title: Flight Software Architect

Deimos, a leading company in the aerospace industry, is seeking a highly skilled Flight Software Architect to join its team. As a key member of our Avionics Business Unit, you will be responsible for designing and developing embedded software and hardware systems for space vehicles.

About the Role:
  • Participate in the entire lifecycle of embedded onboard systems development, including implementation on different target hardware platforms.
  • Design and implement software and/or firmware for space applications.
  • Contribute to software and system validation and qualification.
  • Collaborate with other technical areas, including AI/IP, GNC, and GNSS, to define specific algorithms for onboard implementation.
Requirements:
  • Recognized engineering degree in Computer Sciences, Electrical, Electronic, or Telecommunications, with demonstrable experience in computer systems and software engineering.
  • Postgraduate studies (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in software engineering, real-time software, or embedded systems design are appreciated.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the practical application of relevant domains, with industrial experience in the aerospace sector and/or critical software development viewed positively.
Technical Requirements:
  • Experience in design and development of real-time and safety-critical software systems for the space industry, following applicable software development standards.
  • Good programming skills in C, C++, and potentially others, as well as knowledge of software configuration control (GIT, SVN).
  • Solid theoretical knowledge of real-time multithreaded systems, real-time operating systems (RTEMS, VxWorks, FreeRTOS), and embedded computer architectures (LEON, ARM, PowerPC).
  • Software team leadership and generation of project documentation associated with applicable development standards.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with software systems for embedded hardware control, communication interfaces, boot software, and PUS Services (ECSS-E-ST-70-41C).
  • Knowledge of software verification and validation, use of system test benches (EGSE/SCOE), test specification, and test definition.
  • Team management skills, including knowledge of waterfall development, SCRUM, agile, CMMI, and SW-QA.
  • SW and systems design documentation methodologies and tools, such as UML and SysML.
Language Skills:

English (native or high level, spoken and written). Spanish is appreciated.
