We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Transport Operations Manager to join our team at Primark. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and coordination of all European store deliveries across 14 countries from 6 Distribution Centres.
Key Responsibilities- Operational Management: Provide day-to-day operational management and coordination of all European store deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation of goods.
- Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all transportation operations are conducted in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
- Transport Planning: Analyze weekly and daily volumes to ensure the most cost-effective transportation solution is executed, taking into account factors such as fuel efficiency, route optimization, and load consolidation.
- Reporting and Analysis: Provide weekly and periodical reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost, compliance, load fill, empty running, round trip/single trip, kilometers, and other relevant metrics.
- Haulier Management: Reconcile and authorize haulier purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely submissions, and conduct periodic and quarterly reviews with hauliers to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve backhaul/supplier collections, ensuring the best fit with operational strategy, and develop best-in-class standards to support the development of transport operations.
- Network Development: Support network developments, ensuring operational complexities are considered, and deliver CI initiatives and projects to manage potential operational change and improvement.
- Budget Management: Manage a budget of €60m, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
- Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a European road transport environment, with a strong track record of delivering results and driving continuous improvement.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of EU Transport legislation and operation challenges, as well as a sound operational understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and outcomes of change.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, within a team or autonomously, and to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Qualifications: A national or European recognized transport qualification, and proficiency in transport planning and scheduling systems.
