The selected individual will become part of a vibrant research team within the Life Sciences division, collaborating with experienced scientists specializing in diverse domains of computational biology, including bioinformatics, computational biochemistry, and text mining. The role will be conducted in a sophisticated high-performance computing (HPC) environment, providing access to advanced systems and computational resources, while fostering collaborations with specialists across multiple fields.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and refine protocols for the application of predictive models to address significant biological challenges related to proteins.
- Conduct analyses based on protein sequences and structures.
- Assist in the formulation and presentation of research proposals.
- Engage in internal meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Educational Background
- A degree in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or a related biomedical field.
- Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux operating systems.
- Strong programming capabilities, particularly in Python.
- Familiarity with structural biology analysis tools such as ChimeraX and ICM.
- Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with data analysis libraries like pandas, matplotlib, and seaborn.
- Knowledge of machine learning frameworks, specifically scikit-learn.

Employment Conditions
- The position is based at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center within the Life Sciences Department.
- We provide a full-time contract within a stimulating work environment, featuring state-of-the-art facilities, flexible working hours, and a comprehensive training program.
- The contract duration is open-ended, contingent upon the technical and scientific activities associated with the project.
- Employees are entitled to 23 paid vacation days, in addition to holidays as per the collective agreement.
