Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Performance Modelling Engineer to join our team at Microsoft, an inclusive employer and a member of Mygwork. As a key member of our Strategic Planning and Architecture (SPARC) team within Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure (AHSI), you will play a critical role in innovating the latest hardware designs to propel Microsoft's cloud growth.

About the Role

This is a unique career opportunity that combines technical capabilities, cross-team collaboration, with business insight and strategy. You will be responsible for driving performance modelling and analysis to evaluate new technology integration and architecture opportunities for next-generation cloud hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze functional and timing models for Arm, x86, and RISCV ISAs
  • Work with application partners to prepare cloud workloads for complex new hardware
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative hardware solutions
  • Conduct in-depth workload performance analysis and propose innovations in ISA, CPU core, and SoC microarchitecture

Requirements

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent experience (M.S. or Ph.D. desirable) with a minimum of 4 (3 or 1) years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in computer/SoC architecture, micro-architecture, workload analysis, bottleneck analysis, and performance trade-offs
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and collaboration skills in English
  • C/C++ & Python programming skills
  • Experience using modern software development techniques and workflows such as continuous integration and continuous delivery
