Job Overview
Limagrain seeks an experienced Tomato Breeding Specialist to join our global variety development team. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with international breeding teams to drive innovation and market introduction of successful tomato varieties.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing breeding trials under the supervision of senior breeders. This will involve phenotyping, data collection, managing crosses and seed harvests, and securing successful crops from sowing to harvest. Additionally, they will participate actively in operational breeding activities when required.

Data Management and Analysis:
The specialist will register, update, and manage breeding operations in our Breeding Software. They will also support breeders in analyzing phenotypical and genotypical data, preparing reports, giving feedback, making proposals, and drawing conclusions to facilitate decision-making.

Seeds Logistics and Hybrid Production:
The ideal candidate will manage seed increases of advance parental lines as well as advanced hybrids. They will coordinate strongly with breeding teams and the production department to secure quantity and quality of produced seeds. Following breeders' guidelines, they will design, implement, and monitor crossing blocks, supervise crossing teams, and participate actively in pollination when necessary.

Planning and Administration:
The specialist will perform various administrative breeding tasks such as activity forecasts (trials, markers), updating procedures and guidelines, seed shipments and receptions, seed traceability, field certification, variety registration, and material stock management.

Team Leadership and External Relations:
The successful candidate will coordinate and communicate breeding operations to station teams, providing them with technical training and advice to meet quality standards, deadlines, and budgets. They will give clear instructions and monitor the completion of activities, ensuring compliance with safety rules. Establishing and maintaining good relationships with external cooperators is essential.
