About Us: Centrient Pharmaceuticals is the leading manufacturer of beta-lactam antibiotics, and a provider of next generation statins and anti-fungals. We produce and sell intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished dosage forms.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Patent Counsel to join our Corporate Legal department. The successful candidate will provide worldwide technical support and guidance on patent-related matters, including the strategic development and administration of the worldwide patent portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical support and guidance on patent-related matters, including patent prosecution, office actions, oppositions and renewals.
2. Partner with the Innovation & Technology Development (I&TD) team and other relevant technical and business colleagues to identify opportunities to protect their technology and address competitive patent scenarios, threats and opportunities.
3. Conduct due diligence assessments and provide clear opinions on freedom to operate, patentability and patent infringement requests.
4. Draft patent applications, manage FTO requests, and provide opinions on the validity of third-party patent rights.
5. Assist the Head of IP in elaborating and executing patent strategies for the business, risk evaluations and mitigation strategies.
6. Manage the global patent portfolio, including liaising and instructing outside patent counsels as needed.
7. Support the Head of IP in conducting internal patent trainings as needed.

Requirements:

1. Scientific degree, preferably in chemistry, biomedical sciences or pharmacology.
2. Experience with enzymatic, fermentation processes highly valuable.
3. Qualification as Patent Agent (EPO admission to practice highly preferred).
4. At least 8 years of working experience.
5. Proficiency level of English (written and spoken).
6. Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex technical needs and matters to sound and clear advice.
7. Strong, highly collaborative and flexible team player with a keen business acumen and good communication skills.
8. Self-starting, hands-on and pragmatic and able to cope with deadlines and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
