Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team at Baxter Planning. The successful candidate will utilize their IT experience to provide hardware, software, and network support to our company, while also providing guidance and support to both internal and external employees on a wide variety of technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing computer systems hardware, and perform system upgrades to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with our Development team to design, test, and deploy maintainable systems that meet our business needs.
  • Identify and resolve problems impacting critical business operations, and develop automation to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist in the development of continuous integration, delivery, and automation tools to streamline our workflow.
  • Maintain Linux environments, including OS updates, software deployment, script creation, and backups to ensure data security and integrity.
  • Design and maintain monitoring and alerting for production systems and services to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Recommend necessary hardware and software upgrades to ensure our systems remain up-to-date and efficient.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of corporate hardware and licensed software to track our assets.
  • Ensure network connectivity on our corporate LAN/WAN/WLAN infrastructure to facilitate communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain network security via corporate firewall, anti-malware, and user training to protect our data and systems.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux server environments via CLI to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain and ensure proper backups of all critical data to prevent loss in case of an emergency.
  • Install, integrate, and configure new computer systems and hardware for users to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
  • Provide after-hours, on-call support for employees and customers as needed to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to support the team and achieve our business goals.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Linux administration experience (CentOS and Ubuntu preferred).
  • Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, Ruby).
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery using Jenkins.
  • Working knowledge of orchestration and configuration management tools.
  • Experience with cloud providers and their APIs (AWS preferred).
  • VMWare administration experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools.
  • Experience with VCS (Git preferred).
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking (DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting).
  • Windows administration and support.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL desirable.
  • Experience with container technologies.
  • Experience with automated monitoring tools, such as New Relic, desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
