Senior Cloud Native DevOps Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Native DevOps Engineer to join our team at Gentoo Media (Formerly Gig Media).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure, with a focus on Kubernetes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing cloud-native infrastructure using Kubernetes
  • Managing and optimizing Kubernetes clusters
  • Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using IaC tools such as Terraform
  • Creating and maintaining Ansible playbooks for configuration management
  • Deploying and managing Helm charts for various applications
  • Implementing and managing GitOps workflows using kustomize and ArgoCD for microservice deployments
  • Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Gitlab
  • Collaborating with development teams to improve system reliability and performance
  • Establishing and maintaining monitoring systems for all our systems using Prometheus, Graylog, Tempo, and Grafana
  • Managing and optimizing database operations for MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL

The successful candidate will have:

  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Excellent knowledge of Ubuntu and Unix based operating systems
  • Confidence working with the LEMP stack (Nginx, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP)
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services such as DigitalOcean and Amazon Web Services
  • Familiarity with versioning software (Git, Bitbucket, GitLab)
  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages is a big plus
  • Familiarity with Autoscalers like KEDA is a big plus
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and knowledge on how to administer and manage these tools (mostly ArgoCD and GitLab)
  • Understands the full development process and the tools required to make developers highly productive
  • Knowledge of parsing and analysing logs, and troubleshooting issues
  • Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good documentation skills
  • Enthusiasm and a strong appetite for learning
  • Working knowledge on Kubernetes and managing containerized applications
