Job Title: Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in the Computer Sciences Department. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of researchers and engineers working on the Stratum project, which aims to explore the use of multimodal data processing through Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to support complex surgeries in various anatomies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research on acceleration of bioinformatics algorithms and AI-based data analysis pipelines using software and hardware optimization techniques.
  • Investigate novel bioinformatics algorithms and data structures.
  • Write scientific papers and actively engage in ongoing research lines and activities.
  • Coordinate and attend project meetings, supervise MSc/PhD students, and manage research teams and project deliverables.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area.
  • Publications in recognized computer science or bioinformatics conferences or journals.
  • Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
    • Strong background in algorithms, computer architecture, and performance analysis.
    • Advanced skills in AI and bioinformatics algorithms and data structures.
    • Expertise in C/C++ programming, performance engineering, and low-level optimizations.
