We are in search of a Principal Software Engineer capable of defining and executing our vision for scalable graph indices and graph algorithm systems, facilitating large-scale graph analytics for data analysts, business users, and data scientists across diverse organizations.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Extensive experience in technical engineering with proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
- Relevant experience in the development and management of distributed systems as an Individual Contributor or Manager.
- Proven expertise in high-performance computing for graph processing, low-latency serving, or algorithm development.
Other Requirements
Candidates must meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role. This includes passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with graph database query languages, such as OpenCypher or Datalog.
- Knowledge of query planning and execution in graph or non-relational database management systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of core database indexing, query planning, execution, and language development frameworks.
- Design, implement, and oversee the modularization, optimization, testing, repairability, and observability of essential system components.
- Create and participate in the implementation of relevant observability metrics, analyzing these metrics to enhance decision-making quality.
- Guide the team in managing multiple group project plans, release schedules, and work items in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- As a Principal Engineer, contribute to the growth of the graph core database engineering team.
