Academic Support Coordinator

About the Role

SEK International School El Castillo is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Counsellor to support the Diploma Programme. This maternity cover position will start in September 2023 and is a great opportunity to join a co-educational, day and boarding school located about 20 kms from Madrid.

Main Responsibilities

• Implement and oversee a secondary school guidance programme that provides students with a safe and non-judgemental way to voice their concerns or worries.
• Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people.
• Assist school leadership, programme coordinator and teachers with planning and carrying out school-related programmes and events.
• Participate in admissions processes.
• Analyse student performance in the school section to provide guidance and identify potential challenges or matters of concern.
• Help students develop academic plans in accordance with their skills, talents and strengths.
• Observe confidentiality and support the school's endeavour to provide excellent teaching and learning for all students.
• Facilitate intervention and prevention programmes.

Requirements

• Advise and counsel students regarding academic, educational, and short-term social and emotional problems.
• Remain universally accessible and build rapport with every student for whom they are responsible.
• Provide individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding academic matters.
• Teach guidance classes and provide guidance counselling to students through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and important school information.
• Offer workshops/seminars for families and communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with behavioural health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.
• Prepare and deliver content for Open Days, School Fairs and other School promotion events or materials.
