Job Summary
The Freight Cost Manager will be part of the new GWT GBS team, focusing on GWT operational tasks in two areas: Finance support and Thermal equipment material support.
Finance Support
The Freight Cost Manager will support financial tasks in the areas of freight cost management execution, forecast tracking, and budgeting. This includes:
- Freight costs invoice management
- Tracking of IOF values, 4PL invoice values, and account bookings
- Review and approval of additional surcharges for exception cost handling
- Closely tracking and managing IOF costs to achieve monthly targets (FY budget of 180m EUR)
- Closely aligning with 4PLs on costs development
- Calculating and communicating accruals towards finance
- Supporting ad-hoc analysis
Internal Outward Freight (IOF) Costs Forecasting & Budgeting
The Freight Cost Manager will further develop the IOF projection model to calculate budget, collect and develop required input from main stakeholders (price projection, volume projection), prepare and drive budget and forecasting discussions with finance.
Airfreight Costs Management
The Freight Cost Manager will further develop the airfreight budget projection model, calculate the required airfreight budget to achieve IOF target, own the airfreight budget process, communicating airfreight budget and costs with GSM (on a monthly basis), run quarterly steering meeting, and support in implementing improvement measures.
Thermal Equipment Material Support
The Freight Cost Manager will steer the ordering process of thermal equipment (mainly dataloggers, thermal blankets) for Bayer sites and CMOs, develop process improvements jointly with GWT, Supply Chain, and Quality, place Purchase Orders in alignment with Finance and GWT, operational tracking and monitoring of all orders (CH division: €1.5m costs, 300 orders), operational cost tracking of equipment by type and supplier including transportation costs, communication with Bayer sites, CMOs, supplier managers (Bayer), logistics service providers (external), and material suppliers (external), escalation management in case of issues.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain, industrial engineering, or similar, with 5+ years of working experience in logistics and supply chain, ideally close to operations. Experience in finance is a plus.
