Purpose of the role
We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to extend the feature set for our browser extension and B2B users. The ideal candidate will have experience with backend architecture and development, as well as a strong understanding of software engineering best practices.
Key responsibilities
- Autonomously extend the feature set for our browser extension and B2B users
- Maintain and refactor existing code to provide a stable API for our VPN client applications and infrastructure
- Collaborate with product owners, designers, QA, and other engineers to take initiatives from ideation to completion
- Break down large initiatives into smaller milestones to gather stakeholder feedback quickly, allowing us to course-correct immediately
- Propose the best next steps when initiatives are deadlocked between product and engineering
- Keep security top-of-mind during design and implementation to ensure we keep our promise of protecting our users' data
Requirements
- Strong Experience with backend architecture and development
- Experience working on highly scalable production systems
- Demonstrated problem-solving and software engineering skills
- Takes care to ensure that the product always meets user expectations
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, such as SOLID, Design Patterns, TDD, CI/CD
Bonus points for:
- Familiarity with modern PHP and the Symfony framework
- Experience in frontend development using Javascript/Typescript and React
- Open source contributions
- Experience leading complex, highly scalable production systems
- Experience with data processing and storage (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, Elastic)
