Omya International Ag, a leading global producer of industrial minerals, is seeking a skilled Data Solution Engineer to join our Data and Analytics Office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and governing our 'Data Platform' on Azure Data Platform.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end implementation of our solution on Azure Data Platform, including design, development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine the solution architecture.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure efficient and effective implementation by our supplier, leveraging Azure Data Platform capabilities.
- Work closely with Data Ambassadors and Data Center of Excellence (CoE) to gather requirements, define project scope, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Azure cloud services, with a focus on Azure Data Platform, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Cosmos DB, and other relevant technologies.
- Monitor and optimize the performance and scalability of the solution on Azure Data Platform, making recommendations for improvements as needed.
- Oversee AI implementations, including understanding AI models developed by data scientists and ensuring successful deployment on Azure.
- At least 4 years of proven experience as a Data Solution Engineer or similar role, with a focus on implementing solutions on Azure Data Platform.
- Master's degree in Business Administration or Information Technology, advanced studies in Data Science/Analytics desirable.
- Expertise in data management tools/IT architecture models (Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Lakehouse, etc.).
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing scalable and efficient solutions on Azure.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and architecture, with relevant certifications.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with a geographically dispersed team.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required. Spanish is nice to have.
