We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Frontend Developer to join our team at the Barcelona Institute Of Science And Technology (BIST). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Web frontend (HTML, CSS, JS) and experience in working with REST API's for application and services integration.

The selected candidate will be contributing to the development of a platform that enables scientists to access and query the biomedical data generated by research and healthcare institutions worldwide while aligning with data privacy regulations.

The position provides an opportunity to work on world-class collaborative scientific projects and join a multidisciplinary team at the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA). The candidate will work closely with bioinformaticians, data curators, web designers, and other developers.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of server-side aspects (including web security) and experience in working with containerization technology (such as docker). Knowledge of querying databases: SQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Neo4J, etc, and unit testing and E2E testing using Cypress is a major plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop sophisticated interfaces that have been created by a UX/UI designer
  • Integrate with a back-end system that manages discovery and sharing of biomedical data
  • Contribute to the development of a platform that enables scientists to access and query the biomedical data generated by research and healthcare institutions worldwide
  • Work closely with bioinformaticians, data curators, web designers, and other developers

Requirements:

  • Strong background in Web frontend (HTML, CSS, JS)
