The Kindle Conversion team is responsible for fast, secure, and scalable eBook conversion across multiple file formats (EPUB, Doc/Docx, PDF, Html) to Kindle-compatible format. We deliver a best-in-class reading experience for customers by supporting rich styles conversion across different file formats and bring stronger foundations to delight our growing diverse customer base.

Job Description:

We're seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Kindle Conversion team. As a hands-on engineer and technical leader, you'll take ownership of business/technical problems end-to-end. You'll play a key role in defining software architecture using various technologies, programming languages, and systems.

You'll interface with product managers & stakeholders to understand business requirements. You'll author detailed designs covering process/data flow diagrams, key trade-offs, technology & cost considerations that you'll review with your team's SDEs/Sr. SDEs as well as impacted upstream/downstream interface SDEs/Sr. SDEs to incorporate feedback resulting in well-thought-out high-quality designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define software architecture using a wide range of technologies, programming languages, and systems.
  • Interface with product managers & stakeholders to understand business requirements.
  • Author detailed designs covering process/data flow diagrams, key trade-offs, technology & cost considerations.
  • Engage in design reviews within the team as well as within the organization to provide feedback and elevate design quality.
  • Actively engage in operational support for your team and ensure root causes of operational issues are identified and resolved.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Compensation: $125,000 - $175,000 per year, depending on experience.
