About the Role

The Diageo Southern Europe Finance team is central to the delivery of key business objectives and targets across the P&L, Balance Sheet, and broader market share. As a Financial Decision Support Specialist, you will drive excellent decision-making across the Consumer and Customer Marketing Teams and support the business in setting and realizing its performance ambition and AOP with a particular focus on the Dynamic value creator area of the Finance Mission:

The successful candidate will play a key role in handling and optimizing Southern Europe's total A&P budget. This role will partner the SE Marketing and SE Customer Marketing teams to ensure we have a clear understanding of drivers of spend to enable this investment to be optimized and deployed with agility. Part of the role will also be to drive optimization of the A&P process and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide decision support to the customer and consumer marketing teams, which will ultimately improve, return on investment, Net Sales Value, Gross Profit, Gross Margin %, CAAP, and CAAP Margin %.
  • Partner with marketing & customer marketing teams on their A&P budget, seeking out greatest opportunities for growth
  • Partner with SE Finance team (Commercial Finance, Finance Controls, BPM team, etc..) to bring together the Brand/category/Portfolio perspective with the Country/Channel perspective and assessing the right prioritization and optimization choices.
  • Guarantee quality A&P budget management, giving confidence to the wider SE business on A&P accuracy and correct spending in line with strategy
  • Partner with marketing teams to implement high-quality measurement and evaluation of our marketing activities
  • Identify and implement A&P process improvements on A&P/finance projects
  • Use insightful analysis to identify business opportunities
  • Present analysis to the teams and then subsequently empower the team around delivering against them
  • Support the strategic planning and forecasting processes
  • Ensure the appropriate governance and controls are in place for all investment and best-in-class process, data, and tools are available to support decision-making

Ideal Experiences / Qualifications / Capabilities

  • Qualified accountant who will be studying or has studied towards their ACCA or CIMA qualifications (preferred)
  • Existing capability to build genuine relationships built on mutual trust & respect
  • Successful management of senior partners, resulting in strong and positive outcomes
  • Comfort with dealing with ambiguity, complexity, and working within a fast-paced, ambitious, and matrixed environment
  • Deep personal accountability for extraordinary performance
  • Strong commercial and numerical savvy with attention to detail
  • Excel, BPM (or equivalent), CRM (advantage or similar) system knowledge
  • Demonstrate you have mastery in financial analysis.
  • Minimum 4+ years of finance experience, ideally in FMCG/Consumer goods
