Job Summary:
Canadem is seeking a highly skilled Child Protection Specialist to provide technical support to the Government of the Canary Islands for a timely and quality protection response to the refugee and migrant unaccompanied children arrived by sea in the Canary Islands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and roll out standards and mechanisms for assessing the international protection needs and specific needs of unaccompanied children.
- Reinforce coordination between the Director General of Child and Family Protection in the Canary Islands, the police, NGOs, lawyers, and other relevant actors involved in the protection of unaccompanied children.
- Support the development of a case management tool for unaccompanied child cases and standard operating procedures for its use.
- Contribute to capacity building and technical support initiatives on child protection standards for various stakeholders.
- Support the management and coordination of the child protection response in the Canary Islands.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of child protection interventions and provide strategic recommendations.
Requirements:
- Child protection expertise in a refugee context.
- Experience in strengthening national child protection systems, including case management tools.
- Practical experience with best interests assessments.
- Practical experience with developing data or information sharing protocols.
- Experience working in a cross-border context.
- Solid analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Knowledge of French/Arabic is an asset.
