Maritime Decarbonisation Expert

About the Role:

Ricardo plc, a global strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting company, is seeking a highly skilled Maritime Decarbonisation Expert to join our Sustainable Transport team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to developing and delivering our growing portfolio of maritime decarbonisation projects for private organisations, industry associations, and public sector clients.
• Lead and contribute to maritime decarbonisation projects involving policy design, policy evaluation, techno-economic analysis, scenario modelling, and analysis of wider economic and social implications.
• Lead and contribute to the development of technical proposals primarily within the maritime sector but with ad hoc support across the wider team.

Requirements:

• Education to a Bachelor's degree level or higher in a related discipline such as engineering, maritime studies, economics, political science, or sustainability.
• Relevant policy consultancy or advisory experience within the public or private sector.
• Understanding of the maritime sector, at an operational level and at a commercial level, and the sustainability challenges facing maritime organisations.
• Knowledge of European climate transport policies such as those included in the Fit for 55 package and the impact assessment of these policies.
• Familiarity with maritime policies such as those set internationally by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) or regionally in areas such as the EU.
