Job Description:
Purpose of the Position:The Pediatric Medical Consultant will work closely with our interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide medical evaluations and consultations for abused and neglected children. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and a passion for working with vulnerable populations.
- Review daily abuse reports to determine mandatory referrals for the Department of Children and Families.
- Determine situations requiring a medical examination or further testing/hospital services/record reviews and consult with supervisors and medical director.
- Provide diagnostic evaluations and medical consultations regarding abused and neglected children under the direction of the Medical Director.
- Takes patient histories, conducts physical examinations, and records the data in the patient's record; writes progress notes and narrative discharge summaries; prepares patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings.
- Prepare medical reports.
- Consults with Case Coordinators, Program Coordinators, and participates in Case Reviews and Team Staffing's.
- Refers children exhibiting abnormal findings for additional physician evaluation.
- Provides physician and pharmacist referrals to patients in need of further medical care and services.
- Provides depositions and court testimony as required.
- Maintains inventory and ordering of medical supplies, assisting with recertification of clinic licensing and applications for medical supplies.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and expansion of programs and initiatives.
- Participates in meetings, functions, events, and committees, as well as in a team of interdisciplinary healthcare providers.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Master's degree with a major in nursing or another health-related area.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter , Florida Statutes.
- Experience in pediatrics, sexual and physical abuse preferred.
