The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the Payer lab at the Tissue Engineering Facility. As part of this project, you will investigate the role of X-chromosome inactivation in oocyte development using mouse embryonic stem cells. Your expertise in advanced in vitro differentiation models and experience with mouse ESC culture will be invaluable in driving the project forward.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Continuing the work of Bernhard Payer on elucidating the mechanisms of epigenetic reprogramming during embryogenesis, pluripotency, and germ cell development
- Applying a range of in vivo and in vitro model systems to interrogate X-chromosome reactivation and its link to pluripotency and germ cell development
- Collaborating with colleagues in the Payer lab and the wider scientific community to share knowledge and best practices
- Ensuring the efficient management of experiments and data collection to meet project deadlines

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry)
- At least 4 years of postdoctoral research experience in mouse ESC culture and advanced in vitro differentiation models
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and conduct experiments independently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in a team environment
- Familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing and other modern molecular biology techniques would be an asset
What We Offer
In addition to the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects, we offer a competitive salary package of approximately €50,000 - €60,000 per year, depending on your level of experience. This salary reflects the average cost of living in Barcelona and is commensurate with industry standards for a researcher of your level.
