Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is seeking a seasoned expert in capital markets and EU listed companies to join our Global Transactions practice as a Knowledge Lawyer.
About the Role:
We are looking for an individual with deep expertise in capital markets (debt and/or equity) and EU listed company regulation to contribute to our highly successful Global Transactions practice and valued global Knowledge function.
The successful candidate will work closely with practitioners across the global practice, particularly within the EU, to deliver EU capital markets and listed company know-how to lawyers in relevant teams, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk in line with business priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain expertise in EU regulatory developments affecting European capital markets and companies with debt and/or equity listings in the EU.
- Develop and update internal knowledge products (guidance notes, checklists, etc.) to support lawyers in providing market-leading client service.
- Collaborate with partners and senior stakeholders to identify priority areas of focus within the fast-moving EU regulatory landscape and develop house views on legal developments or market practice.
- Capture insights from client mandates, drawing out trends and themes, and share them internally through knowledge products or training sessions.
- Engage lawyers at all levels, encouraging know-how contribution, direct access to knowledge systems, and collaboration on knowledge projects.
- Seek opportunities for innovation in delivering Knowledge services, including using and promoting the firm's legal innovation tools (AI, document automation, dynamic databases).
- Help grow the business by identifying opportunities for client-facing knowledge products and thought leadership, writing blogs, alerts, briefings, and other client content.
- Contribute to larger publications and articles, demonstrating leading-edge legal technical capability and market awareness.
- Participate in industry body working groups and contribute towards strategic industry consultations relevant to EU capital markets and listed companies.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer in a relevant EU jurisdiction with a strong academic background.
- High level of relevant successful experience as a fee earner or a knowledge lawyer/professional support lawyer (or a combination) in a transactional practice with a focus on capital markets (equity and/or debt) and corporate listings within the EU.
Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum
