We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our Research team in the ERC Consolidator READ project.

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the reproductive patterns of early caprines managed during domestication processes in Syria, Jordan, and Turkey.

The research will involve analysis of calcium isotopes from fossil bioapatite tooth enamel samples and the reconstruction of induced changes in lambing.

The PhD candidate will be required to take responsibility for all the steps involved in the zooarchaeological and biogeochemical study, including creating a corpus of calcium isotopes from modern wild caprine ancestors and archaeological caprines samples.

The candidate will work closely with the PI and other post-docs to proceed with mechanical sampling, treatments, and modeling of calcium isotopes analysis.

We also have the possibility of performing radiogenic isotopic analysis if necessary, to achieve the scientific objectives proposed.

You will have a 3-year contract, with a possible extension to 4 years, with a salary of € for the 1st and 2nd year and € for the 3rd year, plus financial support to attend training courses and international conferences.
