The SCM Sustainability strategy consists of three pillars: Supplier sustainability, material sustainability, and material compliance. In this role, you will be taking the end-to-end responsibility of the Material Sustainability management pillar (from process definition to implementation and monitoring/reporting for the whole Business Unit). You will be working closely with the Transformers Business Unit Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers.
Your Key Responsibilities- Create a Comprehensive SCM Material Sustainability Processes Roadmap: Develop a detailed roadmap for the business unit, outlining the key processes and initiatives required to drive material sustainability.
- Contribute to the Overall SCM Sustainability Strategy: Collaborate with the Transformers Business Unit Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers to create a comprehensive SCM sustainability strategy that aligns with the company's sustainability vision.
- Develop Standardized Process Flows: Create standardized process flows for material sustainability requirements, including CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) mapping.
- Clarify Roles and Responsibilities: Identify and clarify the roles and responsibilities within the business unit for related functions and regions.
- Define Annual Targets and KPIs: Work with the Business Unit Sustainability Head and M&S (Marketing & Sales) to define annual targets and KPIs for regional SCMs, and monitor progress and report regularly.
- Identify Opportunities for Improvement: Analyze opportunities to improve major suppliers' material sustainability, drive decarbonization within the supply chain, increase transparency of LCA data, and create business cases in collaboration with Category managers and M&S.
- Respond to Customer Requests: Respond to M&S customer requests for specific tenders and coordinate related data collection from key suppliers.
- Develop Training Programs: Develop and organize LCA, CBAM basics trainings for the SCM community and build best practices among categories.
- Guide Strategic Suppliers: Guide strategic suppliers towards emission zero goals in collaboration with Global Category managers.
- Monitor Sustainability Requirements: Collaborate with the Hitachi Energy SCM team to monitor upcoming sustainability requirements from customers as well as major legislations and bring clarity of the requirements to the SCM teams.
We are looking for a highly experienced professional with a strong background in material sustainability and supply chain management. The ideal candidate will have:
- More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent industry.
- Experience with LCA and/or EPD development.
- Previous leadership experience in strategy/roadmap creation in supply base management and/or in Sustainability.
- In-depth and successful experience of implementing global sustainability programs in large, international organizations, preferably with a focus on Materials and Supplier Sustainability.
- Understanding of materials sustainability related standards such as ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14021/14025, EN 15804/EN 50693, ISO 14067, and Greenhouse Gas Protocol - Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard.
- Understanding and previous experience with supplier sustainability legislations (German Supply Chain Act, 3rd parties sustainability assessment platforms such as Ecovadis) is an advantage.
- Customer focus with the ability to build effective working relationships and inspire others.
- Leader with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills in global industrial organizations.
- Knowledge of SAP Ariba, SAP4 Hana is a plus.
- Advanced in MS Office tools utilization (Excel & PowerPoint).
- Fluent in English, oral and written.
