Critical Facilities Technician Job Description

The Critical Facilities Technician provides technical and facility support in a 24x7 data center environment, including maintenance and oversight of electrical, HVAC, civil and building management systems.

This is a full-time shift position, and may be required to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.

Responsibilities:
  • Taking ownership of IMDC's critical power, cooling/environmental, security & support systems and facilities to meet or exceed uptime service levels.
  • Proactively supporting the safety of the environment & occupants and ensuring all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.
  • Performing limited maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation of the data center heating and cooling systems and overall facility.
  • Permitting and monitoring contract vendors.
  • Monitoring, resolving and updating all assigned service tickets using IMDC's ticketing system. Including trouble tickets and customer installations of electrical and physical equipment.
  • Taking daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment and inspecting buildings, grounds, and all equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning operation.
  • Escorting and periodically checking vendors while performing maintenance to ensure that the rules and operating procedures are followed.
  • Assisting in arranging access and creating work authorisations and changes for internal works or for vendors.
  • Proactively identifying issues and taking the needed steps to resolve. Assisting with service delivery tasks when needed.
Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
  • Experience in a critical operations environment and/or data center experience preferred.
  • An Electrical Engineering qualification or formal training required.
  • English language skills are preferred.
  • Multi-tasking - we use several different systems to manage ticket queues and work tasks can change throughout the day.
  • Attention to detail - ability to understand and follow a documented process and Iron Mountain's safety code, role is very process driven.
  • Organization & prioritization - following processes and managing your time with minimal supervision to get work done efficiently and on time.
  • Dedication & desire to learn - we would like you to grow your career within Iron Mountain.
  • Customer service mentality - we are customer-focused.

  • Working hours and shifts are varied and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.
  • The ability to obtain security clearance via government or other agency background check may be required for customer support.
