Job Description

Vodafone Group is launching its new technological HUB (MSH), an international center of excellence dedicated to research and development of technical solutions, such as Secure Networks, 5G and 6G development, Open RAN, IoT, MPN MEC and UCC for Vodafone Business, platforms and enterprise solutions.

We are seeking a skilled Release Manager to create, embed, and maintain a robust lifecycle and release management capability within our Mobile Private Network's portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling, planning, and controlling the software's development and delivery process, working across multiple domains, and aligning with multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment and operation across a global footprint.

The main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Own the Release Management lifecycle, including strategy, tooling, planning, coordination, and management of product and maintenance releases.
  • Optimize the release management approach, embedding appropriate practices to ensure smooth compliance while optimizing the process through the use of KPIs and Analytics.
  • Act as the Customer Champion, considering the migration plan and customer impact.
  • Drive communications around each release, covering requirements, release preparation documents, QA plans, schedule, scope changes, and resulting release notes.
  • Identify and manage risks that can delay the release, ensuring the scope, schedule, and quality of the release are not affected.
  • Embed Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews in the process and validate/review their effectiveness on a regular basis.
  • Act as an evangelist for automation, driving the use of code pipelines with appropriate quality checks built in, ensuring the impacts of branches and code merges are understood.
  • Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities, including deployment plans and checklists.
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information, such as release calendars, build release procedures, dependencies, and compatibility matrices.
  • Drive the execution of Change Management processes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent programming skills and experience.
  • Ability to handle software infrastructure management and configuration management.
  • Experience in using project or release management tools.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of system integration patterns to deliver products.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development, DevOps practices/tools, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines.
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system.
