Strategic Commodity Buyer

At Magna, we are seeking an experienced Strategic Commodity Buyer - EU Sourcing Expert to join our Global Purchasing Organization in Europe.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will assist in the development and implementation of Purchasing Strategies according to Goals and Objectives defined by the Global Commodity Director. This involves sourcing, negotiations, and managing the supply base for a segment or group of suppliers while adhering to purchasing policy, internal code of ethics, safety, and environmental rules.

This role requires a strong understanding of commodity markets, with a focus on plastics in the automotive industry. The successful candidate will develop and execute strategic purchasing plans to meet business objectives, identify cost savings opportunities, and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive Purchasing Strategies to achieve business goals
• Source and manage suppliers for direct and indirect materials, including plastics
• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers
• Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform purchasing decisions
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives through process improvements and supplier engagement
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier performance

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or related field
• 3-5 years' experience in Purchasing, preferably in the automotive industry
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings through strategic purchasing
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
