Senior Software Engineer - Madrid (Hybrid)

In this position, you will take charge of the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of our extensive on-premises and cloud-based payment solutions. You will leverage your understanding of design principles, including application architecture, database management, and infrastructure development. Collaborating with engineering teams, product managers, external payment processors, and cross-functional teams, you will define and construct intricate solutions that deliver value through innovative product features and business enhancements. Additionally, you will support research and development initiatives within your team to explore cutting-edge technology solutions, conduct engineering assessments, and recommend improvements to our payment platform.

Technical Environment and Tools

  • APIs, Spring Boot, and Middleware technology stack
  • Java/J2EE technologies, XML, and Web Services
  • No-SQL & SQL Databases
  • GitLab, JIRA, Cloudbees, OpenSearch, Swaggerhub, Snowflake, Kafka
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD), and CI/CD practices
  • Hands-on experience integrating with financial institutions and processors in an e-commerce context.
  • Cloud development experience with AWS is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibit strong capabilities in evaluating business requirements while delivering innovative and effective solutions in line with emerging standards.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, business stakeholders, and partners as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineers across geographically distributed development centers.
  • Emphasize customer experience, product quality, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Design multi-layered applications, encompassing user interfaces, business logic, and database interactions.
  • Implement Agile methodologies daily and adhere to the Definition of Done (DoD) process to ensure high quality, maintaining 80% unit and 70% integration test coverage.
  • Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop technical and domain expertise to address product challenges effectively.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolutions with operations, functional, and technical teams.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in software engineering and architecture within a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and translate documents fluently in both languages.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with global partners.
  • Experience with EAI products from TIBCO, IBM, Oracle, MuleSoft, WSO2, or similar, with familiarity in JMS and Kafka being a plus.
  • Extensive experience in Java, J2EE, JSP, EJB, HTML, XML, Web 2.0, AJAX, REST, JSON Web Services, No-SQL & SQL Databases.
  • Proven ability to generate technical requirements, develop functional solutions, and document processes.
  • Understanding of architectural design concepts and techniques, with the ability to communicate and advocate these concepts to a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of various development methodologies, including Agile, Scaled Agile, Traditional Waterfall, and Iterative Development Methods.
  • Capability to enhance the efficiency of development and architecture teams using best practices, processes, and tools.
