We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Specialist to join our team at Maersk. As an Equipment Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Design and Development
- Develop and maintain standard specifications for equipment, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company guidelines.
- Collaborate with peers to develop Employer's General Requirements, integrating safety, operational, maintenance, automation, and asset digitization requirements.
- Manage the type approval process and maintain a register of approved equipment-systems-components for global usage.
- Participate in due diligence and new business case development, working closely with the wider engineering team.
- Collaborate with the global Automation function to stay up-to-date on automation and technology trends, and ensure their consideration in terminal operations.
- Elaborate documents, including scope, for Request for Proposal submissions to suppliers.
- Conduct technical feasibility evaluations and provide equipment recommendations.
- Participate in tender teams, analyzing and evaluating suppliers' proposals.
- Achieve design review, with support from consultants as needed.
- Act as the Equipment Engineering corporate Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for assigned projects.
- Support project teams in hiring, onboarding, and functionally managing project Equipment Managers.
- Collaborate with and, where necessary, manage and direct external consultants.
- Provide fundamental input to new or existing equipment retrofit, with a focus on electrification/hybrid initiatives and automation.
- Offer global support to terminals and procurement as part of operations, for technical improvements and innovation.
- Build effective communication and collaboration with associated functions and external parties, and support result-oriented cross-functional cooperation to achieve common goals.
- Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in equipment technical specs definition and engineering subject matter expertise in project execution teams.
- In-depth, heavy equipment experience, preferably in a ports environment.
- Good general understanding of mobile port equipment, with relevant exposure to different engineering fields and systems (PLC, equipment electrical diagrams, automation systems, hydraulics, mechanics, steel structure).
- Proven international experience is mandatory.
- Excellent analytical, collaboration, and communication skills, with empathy.
- Good understanding of project environments.
- Driven, self-motivating, result-oriented.
- High discipline, following through on actions and ensuring necessary documentation.
- High quality awareness and ability to work with constant care.
- Sensitive to cultural diversity and experience in a multicultural environment, regarding employees, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Customer-oriented.
- Safety-oriented.
- Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken, are essential.
- MSc or BSc in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
