Role Overview
As a vital member of the Cloud Security division, you will enhance the managed services, APIs, and expertise of Amazon Web Services. Collaborating with various infrastructure teams, your focus will be on designing, delivering, automating, and operating at scale the security tools essential for safeguarding our AWS Cloud Platform, which underpins all our critical business applications.
The team is integral in offering Cloud Security Infrastructure products and services to Engineering Productivity teams and beyond within Ocado Technology.

Work Environment
This role is fully remote within countries where we have Development Centres, including the UK, Poland, Bulgaria, Spain, Greece, or Sweden.
Department Overview
The Engineering Productivity division equips all software development teams at Ocado with tools and frameworks to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage, configure, and operate a suite of security-related products deployed across numerous production environments.
- Examples include AWS WAF, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Inspector, AWS IAM, AWS Firewall Manager, AWS CloudTrail, etc.
- Identify vulnerabilities in our security posture and document them in detailed RFCs for Product Management.
- Research and implement best-in-class perimeter security solutions (e.g., IDS/IPS, WAF, DDoS Protection, etc.).
- Evaluate and adopt leading Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems to analyze logs for suspicious activities and generate alerts.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to other infrastructure teams on enhancing our AWS Security posture, including resolving security-related support tickets.
- Champion, plan, and execute Security Compliance policies (e.g., SOC-2, PCI, etc.) and certifications.
- Stay updated on security-related Cloud Technologies, including emerging trends, best practices, and popular third-party security solutions.
- Support production systems concerning security vulnerabilities as needed, including participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Proficiency in one or more cybersecurity domains.
- Familiarity with threat detection, vulnerabilities, security operations, encryption, boundary defense, authentication, and risk management.
- Knowledge of common attack vectors, OWASP Top 10, TTPs, and the Mitre ATT&CK framework.
- Proven experience with network and system security tools in the Cloud, including firewalls, Data Protection technologies, SIEM, intrusion detection/prevention systems, vulnerability scanning, and monitoring.
- Competence in cloud engineering practices.
- Ability to engage in all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) when implementing cloud solutions on infrastructure platforms (AWS preferred).
- Capability to write, maintain, and test Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) such as CloudFormation, Terraform, CDK, etc.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management, Runtime environments, Network systems, Database, and Storage technologies.
- Practical experience with enterprise-scale test-first software development (e.g., Python).
- Familiarity with security compliance (e.g., AWS Config, etc.).
- A strong inclination towards automation, documentation, and maintaining an easy-to-follow audit trail.
- Proficiency with common build tools, repositories, and CI/CD tooling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with vulnerability detection systems (e.g., AWS Security Hub, AWS Guard Duty, AWS Inspector, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure protection strategies (e.g., WAF, AWS Shield, etc.).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure incident response.
- Proactive in setting technical direction, driving delivery, and fostering continuous improvement.
- A collaborative spirit, both within the team and across the organization.
- Understanding of SCRUM or other Agile methodologies.
