Beamline Scientist for Surface Spectroscopy and Structure at 1 bar

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Beamline Scientist to join our team at the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) for the Surface Spectroscopy and Structure at 1 bar (3Sbar) beamline. This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that combines surface photoemission and diffraction data.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead the diffraction activities of the 3Sbar beamline, including designing, constructing, commissioning, and operating the beamline.
- Provide guidance and support to beamline users, including preparing the beamline for local contacts and participating in the beamline research program.
- Collaborate with the scientific ALBA staff, engineers, and technicians to develop innovative hardware and software tools for the 3Sbar beamline.
- Participate in national and European projects and collaborations, and initiate new projects as appropriate.
- Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related disciplines.
- At least 2 years of work experience at a synchrotron light source facility with X-ray diffraction related techniques.
- Expertise in X-ray diffraction, including grazing incidence X-ray diffraction, surface X-ray diffraction, wide-angle X-ray scattering, and small-angle X-ray scattering.
- Experience with hard X-ray related techniques, such as HAXPES, XANES, and EXAFS.
- Experience with operando or in situ experiments.
- A dynamic and multidisciplinary work environment with a strong focus on innovation and collaboration.
