We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Video Streaming Researcher/Engineer to join our team at Fundació I2Cat. As a key member of our Media Technologies Area, you will play a crucial role in advancing the research and innovation fields of video streaming technologies and services.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, deploy, and validate innovative video distribution technologies and services, including immersive media formats, communication and distribution architectures, adaptive and low-latency streaming methods, and interactive multi-user services.
- Collaborate with our team of experienced researchers and engineers to lead tasks and contribute to high-impact scientific publications, technology/knowledge transfer, and cutting-edge software and services.
- Work closely with industry partners and academia to leverage knowledge and meet real social and business challenges.
- Proven knowledge and expertise on video communication and distribution architectures, video capture and processing HW/SW, video streaming protocols (RTP, HTTP adaptive streaming, like DASH and HLS, WebRTC, QUIC), and strategies.
- Solid programming (C/C++ and Javascript) and software design skills, with Python experience being a plus.
- Proven knowledge and expertise on media frameworks (e.g., ffmpeg, GStreamer) and servers.
- Excellent communication skills (writing and presenting) and team work.
- Knowledge of video playback software and engines.
- English professional proficiency.
- Software virtualization and cloud processing.
- Quality of Service metrics and evaluation.
- Portfolio of research activities or contributions to industry outcomes.
