We are a team of Rest-obsessed design enthusiasts on a mission to empower Rest. Since 2012, we've aimed to redefine relaxation by crafting products that help users maximize their downtime—from our signature Original Napping Pillow to our 3D Eye Mask or Neckwrap to enhance Recovery from day to day.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Physical Product Design:
    • Guide and manage a team of designers to create innovative physical products focused on user comfort and wellness.
    • Develop and implement design strategies that reinforce Dolmen's brand identity and ensure the creation of disruptive and functional products.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with production, marketing, and sales teams to ensure products are both technically feasible and commercially viable.
    • Facilitate workshops and design sessions that focus on user experience, ergonomics, and market trends.
  • Oversight and Continuous Improvement:
    • Review and provide feedback on the team's work, ensuring designs meet Dolmen's high standards for quality, functionality, and aesthetics.
    • Implement efficient design processes that promote continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
  • Resource Management:
    • Plan and manage design team resources, including task allocation and workflow optimization, to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
    • Oversee the design budget, ensuring efficient and sustainable use of resources, considering materials and production costs.
  • Research and Design Validation:
    • Lead user research and market studies to identify innovation opportunities in the comfort and wellness space.
    • Validate prototypes and designs through physical testing, ensuring products meet ergonomic, functional, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Design Strategy and Product Development:
    • Define and standardize design guidelines to ensure visual and functional consistency across Dolmen's product lines.
    • Ensure the integration of usability, ergonomics, and sustainability principles in physical product design.
  • Mentorship and Talent Development:
    • Provide mentorship and professional development to the design team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
    • Support continuous learning in emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in physical product design.
Requirements
  • 5-7 years of experience in physical product design, ideally within the softgoods sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership or team management role.
  • Proven experience in creating, developing, and launching successful physical products in the market.
  • Proficiency in 3D design and CAD tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, or similar, along with prototyping and rendering software.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomic principles applied to comfort and wellness products.
  • Experience managing a team of industrial designers, with indirect collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers through the Procurement Manager.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions that align design innovation with market needs and production capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret user data and product testing results, translating them into actionable design improvements and features.
  • Creative problem-solving approach with a strong emphasis on product usability, durability, and sustainability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and defend design ideas to stakeholders across different areas.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is mandatory; proficiency in Chinese is highly desirable.
  • User-centered design approach with a deep understanding of user psychology and ergonomics in the context of comfort and wellness products.
  • Experience conducting user research and ergonomic testing applied to physical products.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Experience working in agile environments (Scrum, Kanban) is a plus, particularly in the development of physical products.
  • Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional courses or certifications in ergonomic design, product management, or leadership in physical product design are highly valued.
