Job Summary
Us Commander, Navy Installations is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as a Supervisory Recreation Specialist. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating a comprehensive fitness, sports, and aquatics program that meets the needs of the military community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse and comprehensive fitness, sports, and aquatics program that aligns with the objectives and guidelines established by higher organizational levels.
- Coordinate with city, state, and other military bases to establish a well-rounded fitness and sports program and promote health and wellness to the community.
- Conduct meetings and host events, educational seminars, and information fairs to engage with the community and promote program offerings.
- Prepare and manage budgets, including appropriated fund (APF) and NAF budgets, to ensure the program's financial sustainability.
- Monitor contract services and perform quality assessment and evaluation (QAE) responsibilities to ensure program excellence.
- Complete local needs assessments and surveys to determine customer needs and incorporate findings into the annual program plan.
- Coordinate with marketing staff to plan and develop promotional advertising, commercial sponsorship, and publicity strategies.
- Assist local Command Fitness Leaders (CFL) in conducting and administering safe and proper Physical Readiness Tests.
- Solicit, interview, select, and direct volunteers and contract instructors for activities and specialty programs.
- Maintain accurate records and submit deserving volunteers for recognition through the base volunteer recognition program.
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices by reviewing research publications and health journals.
Requirements
- Experience in program management, fitness, sports, and aquatics.
- Strong leadership and coordination skills.
- Ability to develop and implement budgets and manage financial resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including community members, military personnel, and base organizations.
