Job Summary
Ricardo plc is seeking a highly experienced Senior Energy Markets Expert to join our Sustainable Energy Systems (SES) team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving the transition towards a cleaner and greener world.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice to clients in navigating the complex world of energy markets, renewable energy, and hydrogen.
- Take responsibility for delivering high-quality work, whether acting as a technical expert or leading projects.
- Manage or oversee projects that meet client expectations and contribute to the overall growth of the company.
- Develop the technical and commercial skills of junior team members.
- Expand our public and private sector portfolios, with a focus on Southern Europe.
Requirements
- Significant experience working at a leading consultancy, energy utility, financial institution, or similar.
- University and master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, energy economics, applied mathematics, or similar.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of power markets, energy policy framework, and technical regulations.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills, with an aptitude for complex quantitative analysis, statistics, and use of large data sets.
- Experience and expertise with energy system modeling and use of least-cost planning and least-cost dispatch tools is desirable.
- Experience and expertise with financial and/or economic analysis of renewable power and/or hydrogen projects.
- Self-starter with a desire to grow the business in an international environment.
- Experience with multilateral banks and IFIs is desirable.
- Successful track record in project management and leading teams.
- Demonstrated experience in client-facing positions.
- Proven experience in business development and pipeline growth.
- Ability to communicate with all sorts of clients and convey complex technical problems to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Native or professional-level competence in English.
