We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Life Safety Specialist at Marine Corps Community Services. As a Life Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patrons at the swimming pool facility.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain continuous surveillance of patrons in swimming pools to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Ensure appropriate headcount of patrons involved in swimming and/or watersport on an hourly basis.
- Call out warnings or take appropriate action for patrons who may have ventured too far or are in imminent danger.
- Provide safety information to patrons prior to them indulging in a water sport or recreation water play.
- Supervise patrons to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocols.
- Protect patrons from hazardous conditions by ensuring that safety and pool rules and regulations are enforced.
- Supervise patrons for safety and crowd control.
- Perform rescue work, promptly render emergency first aid, and call for medical assistance as necessary.
- Manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies to include performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bag-valve-mask resuscitation, or automatic external defibrillation (AED).
- Use and maintain care of emergency equipment such as specialized kits and rescue bags, backboards, head immobilizers, suction devices, splints, stretchers, oxygen delivery systems, and monitoring equipment.
- Control external bleeding with direct pressure and treat shock.
- Splint and immobilize fractures and dislocations for transport.
- Attempt to ascertain whether the patron has preexisting medical problems and to obtain critical medical history from the patron.
- Employ a variety of established emergency medical techniques, methods, and equipment to stabilize the patron for transport to the receiving facility.
- Assist intermediate life support or paramedic staff.
- Administer swim tests.
- Schedule use of lanes and pool space for patrons.
- Instruct patrons on proper swimming pool etiquette and techniques.
- Check I.D. cards for authorized patrons and collect usage fees, if applicable.
- Responsible for conducting opening and closing procedures of the facility.
- Spot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidents/injuries.
- Promptly report safety hazards to supervisor.
