About the Role

Mott MacDonald is seeking an experienced HVDC Control and Protection Engineer to join our Transmission and Distribution team. As an HVDC Control and Protection Engineer, you will work on various projects related to HVDC systems, including feasibility studies, optioneering, specification preparation, and technical bid review.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies and optioneering to identify potential HVDC projects
  • Prepare specifications for HVDC projects, including control and protection systems
  • Review technical bids for HVDC projects
  • Provide design assurance and review for HVDC projects
  • Participate in site visits and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) for HVDC projects
  • Provide OEM support services for HVDC projects
  • Oversee site pre-commissioning and commissioning for HVDC projects
  • Conduct due diligence for HVDC projects
  • Provide technical expert services for HVDC projects

Requirements

  • Experience in HVDC, preferably with an OEM, consultancy, or owner
  • Good understanding of control/networking hardware, cubicle design, and drawings
  • Working knowledge of operational technology, common communication protocols, and SCADA systems
  • Good understanding of HVDC control and protection engineering and design system studies
