About the Role:

Holtec International, a leading provider of innovative technologies for the nuclear power industry, is seeking a skilled Thermal Performance Specialist to join our thermal-hydraulics group in Madrid.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing thermal systems, including spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, and heat exchangers. Key tasks will include:

  • Thermal Performance Evaluations: Conduct detailed analyses of thermal systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Design and Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new thermal systems and components.
  • Technical Writing and Communication: Prepare and review technical reports, calculation reports, and licensing reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Participate in meetings with clients and government regulators to discuss project progress and requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must have:

  • Advanced Degree: A Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in using ANSYS-FLUENT CFD software and a thorough understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent technical writing and communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information.

Desirable Experience:

Candidates with experience in modeling problems with two-phase flow, boiling, and condensation, as well as experience with RELAP5 and/or GOTHIC, will be highly valued.
