The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the actuarial functions in the Life Area, providing strategic guidance and advice to maximize the value of business to shareholders in the long run. The primary purpose of this position is to direct and organize all actuarial activities associated with the following areas of expertise:
- Reserving and Reinsurance
- Analytics and In-force Management
Actuarial In-force Management Function:
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading the in-force management practice within Spain, including steering of in-force KPIs, analyzing the in-force portfolio, reviewing and building internal policies, and proposing actions to improve profitability and customer value.
- Supervising the local Life Reserve calculation, ensuring the adequacy of reserves to interest rates, mortality tables, and loadings.
- Reviewing and arranging necessary longevity reinsurance arrangements.
- Performing experience analysis and ensuring the reasonableness of actuarial assumptions on pricing, valuation, and planning.
- Driving the streamlining and automation of internal processes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including finance, risk, actuarial, controlling, marketing, and sales, to ensure successful product launches and ongoing support.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree or above in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Extensive experience (10-15 years) in the Life Actuarial area in Consultant or Insurance Company in business-related functions (Underwriting, Risk, Actuarial).
- Strong experience with ALM modeling and life actuarial software. Risk Agility Financial Modeling (RAFM) is a plus.
- Programming skills in R, Python, and expertise in machine learning would be beneficial. Familiarity with SAS databases.
- Familiarity with main insurance product types, investment, risk implications, and accounting (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17, etc.).
